How to convert your salary across pay periods

Every pay period is derived from your annual salary and the hours you work:

Monthly = annual ÷ 12 · Weekly = annual ÷ weeks per year · Hourly = annual ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)

Example. A $60,000 salary over 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is $5,000 per month, $1,154 per week, and $28.85 per hour — all before tax.

Frequently asked questions

How does the salary calculator work?

Enter either an hourly wage or an annual salary and the calculator instantly shows the equivalent yearly, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly pay. It uses your hours per week and weeks per year, so part-time and full-time schedules are both accurate.

How do I calculate my monthly salary from my annual salary?

Divide your annual salary by 12. For example, $60,000 a year ÷ 12 = $5,000 per month before tax. The calculator does this automatically along with weekly and hourly breakdowns.

How do I calculate my weekly pay?

Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work each week, or divide your annual salary by the number of weeks you work per year. For a $60,000 salary over 52 weeks, that is about $1,154 per week before tax.

How many hours are in a full-time work year?

A standard full-time year is 2,080 hours — 40 hours per week for 52 weeks. Use 2,000 hours (40 × 50) if you take two weeks of unpaid leave.

Is the result before or after tax?

All results are gross (pre-tax). Your take-home pay will be lower after federal, state and FICA deductions.

Can I use this for part-time or contract work?

Yes. Set your actual hours per week and weeks per year and the calculator adjusts every figure — annual, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly — to match your real schedule.
